An unveiling ceremony of “Research Center for Taiwan Security Promotion” took place at National Dong Hwa University (NDHU) on February 12, 2018. The President of NDHU, Dr. Josh Chao, invited Legislator Ms. Bi-khim Hsiao to unveil the research center together.

 

President Chao said in a speech, “The recent earthquake in Hualien on February 6, 2018 shows the importance of security.” Legislator Hsiao also stressed, “The security issue is particularly pertinent to Hualien area. It was fortunate to have all the peace in Shoufeng campus during the earthquake, but people in Hualien are still scared and many are afraid to go home.”

 

The Director of the Eastern Earthquake Center, Dr. Wenyan Zhang, declared, “According to satellite data, Shoufeng campus is identified not on any fault. We can feel safe at school.”
